I know I said that I would post pics of the kids next. but this was too good to not share-
So one of the students has decided that it is in her best interest to go "dumpster" diving. She was found in the dumpster on Monday "looking for boxes" and looking for answers for HW for forth grade next year. We had a chat about how unsanitary and unsafe that was. I assumed she understood why one should not climb inside a recycling bin...
Today she said she had to go to the bathroom.. I let her go and kept an eye on the clock since she has a habit of being easily distracted...10 min went by and she did not return- so I sent a responsible student to go and find her. She came back without her and said she didtn see her in any of the bathrooms. So I called the office and had them page her over the intercom... "insert name here.. Go back to class please......"
5 min later she comes waltzing in....
I pulled her aside and had another conversation with her and before I could open my mouth to ask she blurted out "I wasn't in the recycling bin Mrs. Nelson."
Me: Okay, where were you?
Her: The bathroom
Me: You were in the bathroom for 1/2 hour? Bc if you were we might need to tell your mom to call the doctor.
Her: No, I had to check the recycling bin bc i saw a bunch of kids taking a box full of stuff to dump in it.....
Me: You said you were not in the recycling bin
Her: I know- I didn't mean to fall in- it was on accident- (keep in mind this a LARGE dumpster that you would have to climb up into in order to get in)
Me: Okay, why did you accidentally fall into the dumpster?
Her: BC i was looking in to see if I could get the box
Me: Stay out of and away from the recycling bin

These are always my favorite stories. I seriously can't believe she was in the dumpster twice. Good luck with the tots.
Mary I love your school stories. They make me laugh and make my day. I still think it's weird for me to see Mrs. Nelson
